2012: The End or another Y2K?

All you have to do is Google the number 2012 to view a plethora of web pages concerning the end of the world. I have recently been fascinated with this subject in light of current events that are happening, particularly the recent weather patterns, cyclones, tsunamis, hurricanes, the advancement of technology in the last 100 years, the events in the middle east, and the rise of Obama. The destruction of the World Trade Center, the symbol of US ecomomic prosperity in the world, was a prophetic event and foreshadowing of the economic downfall of the US, which we are beginning to see. While we can be certain that no one knows the day or the hour, there is a common pattern among major world religions and cultures that something of major proportions is going to happen in 2012.

The ancient Mayan civilization, known for their advanced knowledge in mathematics and astronomy, have a calendar that ends in the year 2012. On December 21, 2012, the earth and the sun will be in alignment with the center of the Milkyway Galaxy and the earth will complete a "wobble" on it's axis, an event that occurs only once every 26,000 years. Many believe this will cause a "pole shift" and what we now know as the north and south poles will be in new locations, causing cataclysmic earthquakes and weather changes.

Numerologists associate the numeral location of the center of the galaxy with a "New Beginning". The ancient Chinese Book, The I Ching, shows time wave patterns ending in 2012. Bible codes point to the annihilation of earth in 2012. Web bots and "spiders" that have been used to crawl through millions of internet web pages to predict current events are pointing to a major 2012 world event. Nostradamus predicted the rise of a third antichrist called "Mabus". Many believe he correctly predicted the first two in Napoleon and Hitler. Ray Mabus, the governor of Mississippi and former ambassador to the middle east in the Clinton years may very well be Obama's running mate and have a large hand in future foreign policy. Or could it be that ObamaBush=ObamaBush? (notice the Mabus?).

Could it be that we are entering the Tribulation years, the final 3.5 years before Armageddon that the Bible speaks of? Is God getting ready to pull the plug after man has ruled himself for 6000 years? Could the seventh 1000 years of mankind on earth be God's time to rule, just as the 7th day Sabbath was to be set aside for God? Perhaps Christ is returning not as a Passover Lamb, but as a Lion to rule on the throne with the 144,000 elect to administer "God's Kingdom" for 1000 years as Revelation speaks about. Regardless, if the end is coming, we should be anything but afraid. It's a perfect time to be made right with your Maker and we should be rejoicing if indeed the 2nd Coming is near because the return of Christ to earth to rule will be a time of prosperity, peace, and worship, and obedience. Fascinating, though, how so many different religions and civilizations are pointing to this year. Come quickly, Lord Jesus, come.

That is really interesting... I've never heard of that whole December 21, 2012 thing before. But I keep thinking of that verse in the Bible (Matthew 24:36) that says "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." The entire chapter of Matthew 24 is fascinating. I do feel though, as many other Christians do as well, that we are in the last days... because of the things described in this chapter that are happening today. It's amazing to think that it could happen in our lifetime... but I agree that I want Jesus to come quickly. This world is falling apart at the seams!
